Sundays…

Michael is usually the first one up and he starts the coffee.  What a glorious way to wake up…to the smell of freshly brewed coffee!  We enjoy a cup together before the children & the dogs begin to stir.  Where do the weekends go?  They fly by far too quickly & deposit us at Monday’s door before we are ready…

Sunday is the day that I prepare our family’s weekly dinner menu.  I ease into the week by looking at what our calendar has in store for us…does Michael have any business travel?  Do any of the children have evening sports or school events?  Doctor appointments, meetings, errands, etc., etc.,etc. Calendar in hand, I take inventory of the contents in the refrigerator, freezer & pantry and begin to build a menu.  By now, the girls are getting ready to head off to the barn and it is Fall Ball season so Max has a baseball game we need to get to.  Oh…and let’s not forget the requisite  trip to the grocery market (heavy sigh).

It may sound like a tedious ritual but it is so gratifying finally getting home early on Sunday afternoon knowing the cupboards are full, the refrigerator stocked and our dinner plan is set for the week.  Today I noticed how beautiful a full fruit tray can be…

If you are visiting Dinner Concierge today, I hope you are enjoying your Sunday & that a wonderful week awaits us all.   Look for a new week’s menu in this Saturday’s post!
