So, it has been a few days…

I have missed this little space and my dinner “conversations” with you.  I hope you enjoyed a wonderful holiday weekend.  I simply cannot believe that we are now in September, another summer neatly tucked into the memory books and, although warmer temperatures have settled in the Bay area these days, you can begin to sense the imminent change of seasons.  The water in the cove just beyond my deck is empty, void of the bobbing sailboats from summer sailing school.  The first local apples are making their way to the market, the grape harvest is in full swing up north in wine country and dusk descends upon us earlier each evening.  Where does the time go?

The holiday and our new football schedule {Friday nights are football team dinner nights where parents of players prepare and serve dinner to 60+ growing boys with hefty appetites…so that’s where I will be on Friday evenings until November.} makes for a short menu this week which features dinners that reflect a seasonal transition.  A couple of fall favorites…slow-cooked pork and early, local Jonathan apples…make their way onto the menu alongside summer staples…corn, tomatoes and basil {and I am breaking out my slow-cooker for the first time in months on Thursday}.

Before I go, I thought I would share last evening’s beautiful Labor Day sunset…

Labor Day Sunset

Have a wonderful week!
